okay not bad-mouthing here....i still like it when the asians get the podium and they did well...most of it...i am talking about figure skating worlds 2008 not like 2006 here....
i like how the asians figure skate just when needed to jump they jump ...better than americans i think why they hestitate for a while ....and i like their elegant not saying that
americans don't have it i like sasha cohen and racheal flatt..and all the other skaters that i like...probably a little opinial..and i like johnny weir too...i like his short progam's music last yr

When Mao Asada fell on her opening triple Axel and went right into the barrier, very few would have imagined and predicted she would win the ISU Figure Skating World Championships 2008. But she remained so focused that she later performed a flawless program. She garnered overall 185.56 points. Carolina Kostner, Italy, who was in the lead after the Short program, made her way through second place with a total score of 184.68 points. The bronze medal was awarded to Korea’s Yu-Na Kim, who earned 183.23 points in total, after winning the free skate segment. Many skating fans were probably hoping to see the 2007 World Champion Miki Ando end up a little higher in the rankings after the Short Program (she only placed 8th) , but she was injured and had to stop her free program after only a minute. She thanked the audience and then left the ice. Miki Ando later explained that she had a muscle injury from before, but she really wanted to try and give a performance this evening anyway.
Short Program 19 March 2008
Only 5 points are separating the top 8 skaters. The second day of the 2008 ISU Figure Skating Championships started with the ladies Short Program. Carolina Kostner, Italy, skated with great confidence and is currently in the lead after the Short Program with a new season best (64.28). She slightly edged last year’s silver medalist Mao Asada, from Japan, (64.10). Surprisingly in third place is Yukari Nakano, also from Japan, with a new personal best (61.10). After a fall in triple Lutz, Korea’s Yu-Na Kim, considered as one of the favorites for the World title, is only ranked fifth (59.85). The reigning World Champion, Miki Ando, was only 8th (59.21). Only 5 points are separating the top 8 skaters. Sweden’s Victoria Helgesson, skated brilliantly and placed 16th with a new personal best (49.68). The Ladies Final will take place on Thursday evening and it will be for sure an exciting night for designating the medalists!
